Thanks for your question. We understand there is interest in seeing Saturday parking data as well. The study is currently budgeted for a Sunday count because Sunday typically has higher downtown parking demand than Saturday. For that reason, Sunday provides a useful snapshot of weekend parking utilization and can serve as a proxy for Saturday.

The purpose of the parking study is not to reach a predetermined conclusion about meters, fees, or generating revenue from parking.
The study is intentionally multifaceted and will look at a range of issues, including parking supply and demand, how parking is currently being used, turnover and availability, the needs of downtown businesses and visitors, and how different parking management strategies could affect the downtown. The study will help the City understand the existing conditions and evaluate potential approaches based on the information and community input gathered through the process.
Paid parking or meters may be one of the strategies considered, but they are not an assumed outcome of the study. If parking management changes are ultimately recommended, those recommendations would come through the study process and would be considered by the City through the appropriate public process.
The goal is to better understand what is happening with parking downtown and identify options that support a vibrant, accessible downtown—not to establish parking as a revenue source or “profit center.”
