COVID Rental

I rented Eileen Stark's Real Gardens Grow Natives on January 26th, 2020. At the time, I was only mildly interested in learning how to kill my grass lawn (I do not enjoy mowing one bit) and do better for the environment with native plants. As the world changed, my due date also changed until the end of July. Suddenly with loads of time on my hands, I devoured this book. This single library checkout is responsible for me changing careers (now work in environmental protection), becoming a better member of my community as a routine volunteer, and brightening my life with a whole new appreciation of humanity's role in nature. Moreover, a couple hundred native plantings later, I now enjoy watching a flood of interesting wildlife like birds and butterflies visit my yard every single day. What was just a random book rental became one of the most formative, rewarding decisions of my life. I have Ledding Library to thank for empowering me with access to knowledge (and Eileen Stark for writing a fantastic book).
