Finding a new home

We left our home of 40 years, moved away from friends and community to downsize and be by our daughter. The library helped us plug into our new community. I found new friends in one of the book clubs, and appreciate The Library of Things to borrow tools that we don’t have anymore. All the staff are helpful and kind. It is a beautiful place to just take a breather.

The Heartbeat of the Community

Ledding Library is the most vital community resource in Milwaukie. It's really a treasure -- great book selection, lovely to visit with lots of natural light, natural wood, comfortable chairs, and ease of finding things, a very efficient hold system, and fabulous programs that cover a wide variety of interests. I feel very fortunate to have this resource within walking distance from my home in Milwaukie.

COVID Rental

I rented Eileen Stark's Real Gardens Grow Natives on January 26th, 2020. At the time, I was only mildly interested in learning how to kill my grass lawn (I do not enjoy mowing one bit) and do better for the environment with native plants. As the world changed, my due date also changed until the end of July. Suddenly with loads of time on my hands, I devoured this book. This single library checkout is responsible for me changing careers (now work in environmental protection), becoming a better member of my community as a routine volunteer, and brightening my life…
