Contest Guidelines

All community members in Milwaukie city limits are eligible to submit entries and vote for other pets by liking the submission(s). Entries and votes must be submitted by January 2, 2026. 

You can find out if you are within Milwaukie city limits by using the following resources. Please keep in mind that just because you have a Milwaukie address doesn't always mean that you are located in city limits. Addresses are used by the post office and don't always align with city boundaries.  

• Go to Milwaukie Maps, click on the spy glass on the left, enter your address in the box, and information will pop up about your property. Towards the bottom of the pop-up window you will see JURIS_CITY. If it says MILWAUKIE then you are located in the city. 
• Take a look at the City Street Index Map with Addresses. The yellow portion of the map are the city limits. 
• Or contact the city at engage@milwaukieoregon.gov or 503.786.7568 to get some help! 

To participate in the 2025 Millie's Pet Pal Challenge, you must register on Engage Milwaukie. Follow these simple steps to submit an entry for your pet!

• Register to participate on Engage Milwaukie if you haven't already done so (Click the "Register" icon in the right column).
• Click "Have your say" on the Millie's Pet Pal Challenge Engage Milwaukie page.
• Add Pet Name in the "Add An Idea."
• Click "New Post."
• In the window that pops up called "Create Post" add your pet's name in the text box called "Add your text."
• Choose the image icon under "Style" to add a photo of your pet.
• In the text box called "Add more details" provide a short description of how your pet represents the best of Milwaukie and should be Millie's new pal. Please include the following in your submission: 
  • Any unique tricks, traits, or special characteristics; and 

  • Things you and your pet do or places you visit around Milwaukie.

• Review what you have added to each text box and be sure to look for typos.
• Submit your pet by clicking on "Post" (You will not be able to make changes after you submit your entry).

To vote for a pet, click the submission and hit the heart button in the bottom left corner to like the photo. You are welcome to leave a comment as well. (Note: Only likes will count towards the number of votes for each entry).

Staff from the City of Milwaukie will review all submitted entries and select the winner with the most votes/likes on their contest submission.  If two or more entries are tied with the same number of votes the winner will be chosen by a random drawing. 

To participate in Millie's Pet Pal Challenge, you must register on Engage Milwaukie. The email address that you use to register will be used to contact you if your pet wins. Register on Engage Milwaukie.  

The winner of the Millie's Pet Pal Challenge will be awarded with a:

• Millie's Pet Pal Challenge Award presented at a future City Council meeting
• Feature on the City of Milwaukie website as the winner
• Social Media post announcing your pet as the winner; and
• Feature in the City of Milwaukie's Pilot Newsletter.
